Leona Maxine (White) Tautfest
October 15, 1919 - September 17, 2012

Leona Maxine Tautfest, longtime resident of rural Marland, passed away Monday, September 17, 2012 at the Perry Hospital. She was 92 years of age.

Mrs. Tautfest was born October 15, 1919 at Glencoe, Oklahoma, the daughter of John Nile White and Maude Marie Jessee White. She was a graduate of Marland High School. She was married to Theodore Roosevelt Ted Tautfest on October 12, 1941 in Tonkawa. The couple farmed and raised their family for many years on their farm site west of Marland.

Mrs. Tautfest was active in many organizations and volunteer groups throughout her lifetime. She was a 50 year award recipient for her support for the 4H and FFA Chapters district representative for the American Legion Girls State the American Legion Auxiliary a Past Matron of the Eastern Star a facilitator for the EWE program through the Noble County Fair a longtime director of MakeItYourself with wool a Home Extension Club member a longtime volunteer at the Frontier School and served on the Noble County Fair Board for 27 years. She also received many ribbons throughout her years at the Noble County Fair. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Tonkawa, now known as the Christian Life Church.

Her enjoyments had included her family, cooking, canning, sewing, and following the Frontier School basketball teams.

She is survived by her three daughters, Theo Hanson and husband, John, of Wichita, Kansas, Leona Baum of Oklahoma City, and Jean Bowhay and husband, Rick, of Kildare one brother, John Nile White Jr. and wife Gaye, of Perth, Australia seven grandchildren, Risa Olds, Rebecca Mills, Jay Pangburn, Juli Hildreth, Bethani Baum, Rayna Johnstone and Jacob Baum twelve great grandchildren, Jessee, George, Dominic, Kaitlin, Joshua, Dalton, Abigail, Peyton, Janci, Reese, Rhett and Laynee. She was preceded in death by her parents her husband Ted, in 1983 one daughter Jan Elane Smith, in 2003 one brother, Olin and three sisters, Lorene, Frances and Mildred.

A visitation to receive family and friends will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Grace Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Christian Life Church in Tonkawa with Pastor Derrick Marshall presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
