Richard "Dick" Talkington

June 11, 1925 ~ July 4, 2010

Dick was born to Jess Talkington and Ruth Otey Talkington in Verden, Oklahoma on June 11, 1925. He died on July 4, 2010 in Stafford, Texas at the age of 85.

Dick graduated from Chickasha High School (Oklahoma) in 1943, seved honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 and earned a BBA in Accounting From Tulane University in 1948.

He married Lucille "Lou" Rita Dragna on May 29, 1948 in Marrero, Louisiana.

He worked for Texaco, Inc. in various accounting roles from 1948 to 1982, when he took an early retirement. His career included assignments in New Orleans, Shreveport and Houma, Louisiana and Houston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lou, who died too young in 1980 and his brother, Donald.

He is survived by his brother, Howard Talkington; daughter, Peggy d'Hemecourt and her husband, Don; daughter, Wendy Talkington; son, Thomas Talkington and granddaughter, Avery Talkington.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home.Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 am.

Interment will follow the service at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.

Dick had a deep appreciation for nature and loved to garden before his health failed.For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Houston Audubon Society, (online at houstonaudubon.org or to Houston Audubon Society, 440 Wilchester Boulevard, Houston, TX 77079).
