Charlotte D. Tackett

Jun 5, 1927 ~ Mar 8, 2005

Charlotte was the daughter of John P. Duke and Ruia M. Houck of Muskogee, Oklahoma. She lived in Lincoln, Arkansas, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, returning to Muskogee in 1940. She graduated from Central High School in 1945. After attending one year at the University of Arkansas, she returned to Muskogee and married the late John W. "Jack" White. They had one daughter, Sally.

Charlotte married the late Col. O.H. Tackett of Norman, Oklahoma in 1977. In 1986, she moved to Enid to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She was known to many as "Granny T."

Charlotte was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church, UMW and Circle III. She loved playing cards, traveling, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and the OU athletes at any sport. She was a Foster Grandmother at Hayes and Monroe Elementary Schools.

Charlotte is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Dr. Lynn Phillips, and her grandchildren, Drew, Bailey and Wade Phillips.

I lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Christ United Methodist Church with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the fund.

Burial will be at Old Union Cemetery in Cincinnati, Arkansas on Friday, March 11, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church on Monday, March 14th, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
