Irma Ellon (French) Swartz

Irma Ellon (French) Swartz
August 10, 1940 ~ December 5, 2018

Irma Ellon Swartz (78) was born on August 10, 1940, in Jefferson City, MO. She had been ill for some time and when she was admitted into Hospice, her family was with her, were able to say their goodbyes, recited her favorite prayer out loud, 'The Lords Prayer', played her favorite song so she could hear it and she passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 5, 2018.

Irma has a lifelong love and passion for dogs, painting, reading, football, baseball, Red Tailed Hawks and her AA and Al-Anon family. We enjoyed a family ritual of going to the horse races every Mother's Day.

This is a quote from one of her dear friends, "She was such an important part of the recovery community, in Enid. She helped start the Inner Joy Al Anon group, was part of the founding group that brought the Heart to Heart women's retreat to NW OK, in Guthrie. The retreats have been going strong since 1986! She was a blessing to many. My children said they can still hear her voice and laugh & Irma sponsored many. When she moved to KS, we had a going away picnic that pretty much filled the south side of Meadowlake Park! We loved her so!!"

Irma loved the words to the song, 'The Time of My Life', and wanted all of her friends and family to hear it and know how much you meant to her. When you play it, think of her and know that she loved you.

Irma was preceded in death by her father, Elbert R. French (68) and mother, Sarah Bernice French (72), from Phoenix, AZ, and her beloved grandson, SSgt Chad Carter Strohmeyer (31), from Broken Arrow, OK.

Irma is survived by her daughter, Carla Strohmeyer and son-in-law, Shawn Strohmeyer in Big Cedar, OK; granddaughter, Shay Strohmeyer in Tulsa, OK; Great-Granddaughter, Adreena Carla Ahn-Strohmeyer and her mother Seonim Tina Ahn Strohmeyer, in Seoul, South Korea; her son Clay Hochwender, in San Antonio, TX; daughter-in law Janna Hochwender and grandson Cooper Hochwender in New Braunfels, TX; her stepson Mitch Swartz and his wife Tammy Swartz, in Kansas City, KS.

There will be a celebration of life for Irma, held at the 580 Coffeehouse in the private room, in Enid, OK, on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at noon, 12:00 p.m., for Irma's beloved friends and family.
