Dorthy Marie (McCrackin) Swan

Dorthy Marie (McCrackin) Swan
September 9, 1931 ~ November 26, 2025

A memorial service to celebrate and remember the life of Dorthy Marie McCrackin Swan will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2025, in the chapel at DeLozier Funeral Service. Dorthy passed away in Commerce, OK on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. She was 94 years old.

Born in Tulsa, OK on September 9, 1931, to Lawrence and Charlotte (Cockran) McCrackin. Dorthy was raised and educated in Tulsa until her senior year, then the family moved to Claremore where her father became the full-time pastor at Memorial Heights Baptist Church. Dorthy graduated from Claremore High School that very same year. On November 12, 1950, at Memorial Heights Baptist Church, with her father officiating, Dorthy married the love of her life, who just happened to be the guy next door Harley Swan. Their marriage was gifted with four children, Sharon, Chris, Rick, and Diane. Dorthy and Harley provided for their family working side by side in the family business, Swan Bros. Dairy. A dairy that has been a part of the Swan family since the 1930’s and still is today.

Dorthy and Harley were active members of Memorial Heights Baptist Church where they made many lifelong friendships. Dorthy was the pianist there, a God given talent that started at a very young age. According to her family Dorthy started playing the piano for schoolhouse revivals and her dad’s services when she could barely reach the pedals. She also served as the organist there for many years as well. Up until just a few weeks ago, Dorthy was playing the piano at Eastwood Manor in Commerce, OK where she was residing.

When free time did present itself, Dorthy enjoyed fishing. Those outings were even made more special when her grandchildren and great grandchildren were with her. Those outings are now treasured memories for her grands for years to come. Dorthy and Harley enjoyed traveling together. They went to Australia, New Zealand, and Europe, staying with families that operated dairies. It was not only special times together but a time of learning techniques that could improve their own dairy operation.

A woman that has left a huge footprint and a legacy that will live on in the lives of her family and friends for years to come. Dorthy is survived by her children, Sharon Gardner and husband Randy, Diane Williamson and husband Don, and Chris Swan, grandchildren, Cassie Keith and husband Kris, Zach Gardner and wife Emilee, Harley Leon Swan III and wife Amanda, Jason Williamson and Ashley Hollingsworth, great grandchildren, Collin Keith, Kasin Keith, Chance Swan, and Rhett Gardner. Dorthy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harley Swan, son, Rick Swan, brothers, Don McCrackin, Allen McCrackin, sisters, Wilma Opela and Catherine Ray.

In lieu of flowers or other condolences please consider making a donation in Dorthy’s name to: John 3:16 Mission at 506 N. Cheyenne Ave., Tulsa, OK 74103 or She Brews Coffee House at 414 W., Will Rogers Blvd., Claremore, OK 74017.
