Thelma Mae (Tirey) Sumner

April 9, 1906 ~ November 12, 2003

Funeral services were held in Raymondville, TX, on Saturday, November 15th, 2003, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Raymondville, TX.

She was born April 9, 1906, and passed away on November 12, in Retama Manor.

She and her husband, LaVerne Sumner would have celebrated their seventy- fifth anniversary on December 26, 2003.

They were longtime members of the Rush Springs community, where they owned and operated the Rexall Drug Store for 30 years.

She is survived by her husband, LaVerne of Raymondville, TX; one daughter, Jane and her husband Clarence Maher; five grandchildren, Thomas Maher of Miri, Malaysia, Mary Zachary, M.D. of NYC, Michael Maher, M.D. of Phoenix, AZ, Jill and her husband Roy Lyles, and Steven Maher of Dallas, TX; also seven great grandchildren; and one brother, Chris Tirey of Norman, OK.

She was buried at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.

She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
