Carole Ann Sulllivan departed this world on Tuesday, May 26th at Integris Hospice House with her sister “Jean” holding her hand. She came into this world on September 9, 1944 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her proud parents were Dora and Roy Sullivan. The nurses at Hillcrest nicknamed her “Cupie Doll”.
Carole is survived by her two loving sons, Brian Stufflebeam of Oklahoma City and Kevin Stufflebeam of Enid, Oklahoma along with his wife Angela, 3 grandchildren Chris, Ashleigh, and Cheyanne “Annie”, her sister, Jean Jodlowski and husband John of San Marcos, California, her brother Roy Sullivan and wife Margie of Lawton, Oklahoma, Nephews, Nieces, Grandnephews and nieces, and cousins.
Carole attended school in Muskogee, Oklahoma and later in Oklahoma City where she graduated from Harding High School. After marrying her high school sweetheart, she returned to Muskogee to raise their sons and attend Bacon Junior College to study nursing. She graduated with honors while caring for her family. She was presented the Leo D. Harman Memorial Award as salutatorian, president of Phi Theta Kappa, received the Bacon Academic Achievement Award. On the Presidents Honor Roll and elected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges.
Carole worked as a Registered Nurse at Muskogee General, Mercy Hospital, and retired from Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Spending time with her family meant the most to her. She had a very deep connection to her immediate family, the aunts and uncles, and cousins. She loved things that were old and part of the past. She loved all holidays. Carole spent hours wrapping beautiful presents, decorating her Christmas tree, cooking, baking, gardening. She was creative and enjoyed cross stitch, quilting, painting, all types of crafting. In her later years, she truly enjoyed camping, fishing, and cooking outdoors with her son “Brian”. They also spent many hours bird watching. A trip of a lifetime is when she and Brian went on a Civil War tour in 2009.
