Alvin Otis Suggs

February 28, 1937 ~ June 25, 2019

Alvin Otis Suggs, 82 years young, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Baylor Scott and White All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas in the presence of family.

He was born on February 28, 1937 in Thackerville to John William and Ethel B. Harris Suggs. Alvin married his wife, Neta Suggs, on December 3, 1955. For over 63 years his love shined bright every time Alvin spoke of his wife. He was devoted to his family with unconditional love and took pride in all they achieved. In his 82 years of life, he has been a consistent example of a perfect man, husband, father, and grandfather to his family.

He was retired from the Reliable Life Insurance Company. He was a friend to many, compassionate neighbor, an avid western reader, Gaither Music lover, active gardener, excellent Christmas decorator – but most importantly, he was a believer and friend of our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church with his family, Neta, Traci and Alyson. He led his life altruistically by giving unselfishly and loving others without an exception of anything in return.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Eva Morgan and Inez Pilcher; brothers, Lester Suggs, George Suggs, and Harrell Suggs; and son, Randy Suggs.

Survivors include his wife, Neta Speer Suggs of Arlington, Texas; brother, Tom Suggs and wife Lucia of Fort Worth; daughter, Traci Jones and husband Kevin of Bedford, Texas; granddaughter, Alyson Morris and husband Ryan and their son, Maddox of Houston; grandson, Ryan Jones and wife Mallory and their son, Emerson of Fort Worth; and many nieces and nephews.

At Alvin’s request, there will be no service. The family plans to have a celebration of Alvin’s life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Alvin’s memory to Vitas Community Connection (online at vitascommunityconnection.org/community-connection/donate or by mail at 6100 Wester Place Suite 801, Fort Worth, TX 76107 or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (online at www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude).

This obituary included a picture of Mr. Suggs.
