Helen Marie "Ree Ree" (Chrisman) Strachan

Helen Marie "Ree Ree" (Chrisman) Strachan
March 4, 1943 ~ October 18, 2025

Helen “Ree Ree” Marie Strachan, 82, of Copan, joined her beloved husband Clyde Wilson Strachan in heaven on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

Helen was born March 4, 1943, in Niotaze, Kansas, to Charles and Margaret (Boggs) Chrisman. She attended Caney, Kansas, schools, graduating from Caney Valley High School in Caney.

Helen met the love of her life, Clyde, at Phillips Petroleum Company, where she was working as an elevator operator. They were united in marriage in Caney, KS, in 1965 and enjoyed almost 50 years together before Clyde preceded her in death on February 14, 2015.

Helen and Clyde enjoyed going to garage sales and auctions together. They loved collecting antiques and were always on the hunt for that next unique item. In their younger years they enjoyed riding horses, attending Cavalcade and were members of the Round Up Club. They enjoyed hosting Halloween parties for the littles and family gatherings at their ranch in Copan. She always had more than enough food to feed a crowd, whether at a soccer game, track meet or family get together. Many weekends included taking the family to their lake house in Grove. Helen also loved taking her ceramics, grapevine wreaths, and decorative paintings to craft shows. She was an avid crafter and painter that loved to share her artistic gifts by helping out any way she could. Helen never met a stranger and loved to tell you all about her goats, emus or current creative diy projects. For several decades Helen and her cousin/best friend Janice Chrisman met a group of dear friends and family every Friday for a fun evening of fellowship and painting.

Helen was active in her children and grandchildren’s lives, attending their track meets and soccer games. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and she will be dearly missed.

Survivors include three children, James Allen Strachan and wife Tracy, Chris Strachan and wife Jeannie, Meredith Scott and husband Billy; a sister, Maxine Vernon and husband Nelson; 11 grandchildren, Tiffany, Nicolus, Jessica, Janie, Houston, Dylan S., Corwin, Brayden, Colby, Dylan W., and Elizabeth; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Strachan; and parents, Charles and Margaret Chrisman.

A celebration of life will be held between the hours of 2:00 - 4:00 Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Bartlesville First Baptist Church Activities Building, 413 SE Delaware Ave., Bartlesville, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at
