November 11, 1935 ~ December 21, 2013

Celebration of life service for Mr. Don Stout, 78, of Kremlin, will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2013, at First United Methodist Church. The Reverend Susan Southall will officiate. Cremation and service are under direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

He was born November 11, 1935, to Carroll and Irene York Stout in Lambert, OK, and passed away December 21, 2013, in Enid. He grew up on the family farm and was raised in the Friends Church. He graduated from Lambert High School in 1953.

An active FFA member, he was awarded the FFA American Star Farmer. He attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University for two years. He later graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1957 with a degree in animal husbandry.

He married Pat Hays in 1957 in Enid.

He was a County Extension Agent in Brown County, Kansas, for several years after graduation. He and Pat started their own farming and ranching business in 1962. They specialized in purebred shorthorn cattle and raised and showed three national champion bulls. Don's keen cattle philosophy impacted the shorthorn breed worldwide, with their stock sold as far away as Australia. He was a member of American Shorthorn Association and Oklahoma Shorthorn Association. He served on the board of directors for both.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Pat; one daughter, Debbie Adriance and husband Al of Kansas City; one son, J. David Stout and wife Vicki of Wake Forest, North Carolina; one grandson, Cody Stout; two brothers, Bob and wife Helen of Hooker, OK, and Bill and wife Evelyn of Cherokee, OK; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has designated memorials to Kremlin FFAchapter, with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds.

Condolences may be made to the family at Brown-Cummings.com.
