Larry Rand Stone

Larry Rand Stone
August 28, 1951 ~ March 6, 2017

Larry Rand Stone, resident of Newkirk, passed away March 6, 2017 at the age of 65. He was born in Sayre, OK to William Travis and Nellie Louise Stone on August 28, 1951.

Larry loved hunting and fishing from an early age. He talked about his fishing trips with his school buddies more than school activities. He worked at his uncle's farm over the summers. He almost got his college degree, with only 7 hours left to take, but was unable to complete it because he had to hold down two jobs so he could support his family.

He joined the Army where he worked on diesel truck engines and generators for two years. He met his wife in Ponca City and had two children, Amanda and Travis. Larry loved his kids and he was so proud of Amanda when she gave him her diploma from OU. Larry would take Amanda fishing and he would let her drive his pickup around the countryside. When Travis got older, Larry would take him fishing and hunting in Kay and Osage county a lot. On Thanksgiving they would hunt at their aunt Sherri's house in Sayre. Larry and the kids loved Sherri's chocolate pie and orange jello fluff, as well as Virginia's pea salad.

Larry had been working at ASC for 25 years, where he met Gail. They married on September 28, 2007. Before they got married, they built a cabin for Gail's parents to sleep in. Larry developed a father-son relationship with Gail's son, Doby. They enjoyed hunting trips at his sister's house and they would pick Virginia up on the way for Thanksgiving. Larry was very loved by his family and all that knew him. His grandson Devin was his pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Louise Stone, and son Travis Alan Stone.

He is survived by his wife of Newkirk; daughter Amanda and son Devin; Doby Martin, wife Nancy and their children Chelsey and Bryan; David Powell, wife Michelle, and children Krysten and Tyler; Virginia and husband Tim Campbell; Sherri and husband Billy Hill; as well as nieces and nephews.
