May 22, 1913 ~ May 21, 2000

Tressie Aleene Stiles passed away at her daughter's home in Capay, on May 21, 2000, one day before her 87th birthday.

Born May 22, 1913, in Tallhina, Oklahoma to the late Auzzie Lee and Nellie Ellen (Stover) Stone, she was a Yolo County resident for 54 years.

In addition to being a homemaker all her adult life, she worked outside the home at various jobs. She worked for Voultee Aircraft in Southern California during World War II assembling airplanes. Prior to her retirement she was employed as a seamstress for Yolo General Hospital.

Mrs. Stiles is survived by her sons, A. L. Stiles and wife Verga, and Dale Stiles and wife Esther, all of Woodland, and Jerry Stiles and wife Cynthia of Capay; daughters Nancy Shaw and Loretta Clark of Capay; brother Paul Stone of Louisiana and sister Ann Stone of Southern California; 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Stiles was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Homer Lee Stiles in 1987, and daughters Bertha Ann Ayon in 1975 and Barbara Martin-Williver in 1991.

Visitation was scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24 at Kraft Bros. Chapel, 175 Second Street, in Woodland.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2000, also at Kraft Bros. Chapel with interment to follow at Monument Hill Memorial Park.

The family suggests that donations be made to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, CA 95617 in Mrs. Stiles' memory.

Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors of Woodland assisted the family with arrangements.
