Memorial services for Jerry Wayne Stewart, 75, of Burneyville were held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 26 in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel, Marietta with Lawrence Anderson officiating.
Born August 25, 1937, at Enville, the son of Robert Larry and Opal Inez Watson Stewart, he died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at his residence at Burneyville.
Jerry attended school at Enville and graduated from Marietta High School with the Class of 1956. He was employed as a seismograph shooter for several years, then worked for Morton’s Foods for 10 years. Jerry retired from the Red River Valley Rural Electric Association in 1998 after 17 years of employment on the right-of-way crew. He enjoyed the outdoors, being with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Jerry and Linda Shankles were married in Las Vegas on June 6, 1995. He was a member of the Burneyville Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Bobby Gene Stewart and Jimmy Dale Stewart; a sister, Opal Inez “Sug” Lemons; and a stepson, Bret Higgs.
He is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Angelia Stewart of Fort Worth, Texas and Kevn and Elizabeth Stewart of Monet, Missouri; a sister, Geraldine Bean of Wynnewood; 10 grandchildren, Joy Elizabeth Stewart, Hope Merryann Stewart, Ashley Higgs, Devon Higgs, John-David Stewart, Matthew Stewart, Timothy Stewart, Philip Stewart, Quentyn Stewart and Parker Stewart; and two great-grandchildren, Korbin Higgs and Raven Jade Dover.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were his grandsons, John-David Stewart, Matthew Stewart, Timothy Stewart, Philip Stewart and Quentyn Stewart and a granddaughter, Parker Stewart.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Madill Baptist Home for Girls c/o Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, 100 East Main Street, Marietta, OK 73448.
