Kelly Wayne Stephens

Kelly Wayne Stephens
March 1, 1955 ~ February 26, 2022

Adventurous Traveler, Kelly Wayne Stephens, embraced life right up until early Saturday morning, February 26, 2022, when he made his final journey to Heaven. He passed from his home in Fairfax, Oklahoma, at the age of 66 years, 11 months, and 25 days old.

He was born in Hominy on March 1, 1955, to Bob J. Stephens and Hazel Lee (Wood) Stephens-Gamble. He grew up and attended school in the Hominy area. On September 4, 2009, he was united in marriage to Wanda (Stephens) Fitzgerald in Missouri. The couple have called Fairfax their home ever since that day over 12 years ago.

He worked as a Superintendent at various commercial construction jobs, one being Parkway Construction. An incredible carpenter, his work provided for many traveling experiences across the United States. Kelly had helped his mother numerous times with her different business buildings including her two quilting shops in Fairfax.

Kelly enjoyed life, family members and friends. He was always there to brighten the lives of others and never met a stranger. He always seemed to look out after others and would put others before himself. The world is a lesser place without him.

His grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. There’s no denying that the grandkids and the great grandkids were the people he loved the most. An avid gardener, he loved working with his hands be it in the dirt or on a woodwork project. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling and sightseeing, especially through the mountains. He will be remembered for his gentleness, grace, and kindness toward others.

Kelly will be missed everyday by his wife of the home; four children Bryan Stephens of Cleveland, Kimberly (Billy) Anderson of Fairfax, Robert McCulley of Wister, Okla., and Audra McCulley of Mannford. Eleven grandchildren, Ally McCulley, Denny Nordby, Kennadie McCulley, Enola Anderson, Aiden Schwenker, Caleb McCulley, Bailey McCulley, Lane McCulley, Keith McCulley, Ethan McCulley, and Kiyah McCulley plus five great grandchildren Jensen, Myles, Jesse, Mak, and Calah. Further survived by one brother Bobby (Brenda) Stephens of Norman; two sisters Valerie Jones of Wilson, and Faye (Jim) Collins of Cleveland; and countless other loving family members and friends.

He joins in Heaven his parents, his stepdad Harold Gamble, a brother Marty Stephens, and a sister Anna Monroe.

Cremation has been chosen with arrangements being handled by Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home of Fairfax.

Friends and loved ones may pay their respects at the funeral home Chapel on Wednesday, March 2, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday, March 3, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. To leave a word of encouragement or sign Kelly’s guestbook please visit our website at: www.hunsakerwootenfuneralhome.com
