John A. Stanfill

July 2, 1942 ~ July 1, 2003

John A. Stanfill died in Woodland Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at age 60.

Born July 2, 1942, in Kingfisher, Okla., Mr. Stanfill had been a Yolo County resident for 38 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and recently retired from McClellan AFB, having been awarded "Soldier of the Year 1979."

Mr. Stanfill is survived by his wife, Barbara Stanfill; children, Dean Stanfill and fiancée Vonna, Deann Simpson and husband Bobby, and John Stanfill and wife Kathy; and grandchildren, Marissa, Chelsey, Robby and Linnea, all of Woodland.

He is also survived by his father, John Ancel Stanfill of Woodland; brothers, Tom Walker and family of Anderson, Jim Stanfill and family of Georgia; and numerous other family members and friends.

A funeral service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3, at McNary's Chapel, with burial following in Woodland Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Yolo County Hospice.

McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
