Kenneth Royce Stamper

Kenneth Royce Stamper
November 17, 1949 ~ November 14, 2021

Moore - Kenneth Royce Stamper, 71, died at home in Moore, Oklahoma on November 14th, 2021. He was born in Bentonville, Arkansas on November 17th, 1949.

Ken married Sharron Lynn Williams in 1970. They had two daughters, Laura Ann (Stamper) Doughty, and Megan Lynn (Stamper) Hale.

Ken was the seventh of ten children. His family had moved to Bentonville, Arkansas to build and operate a farm, a lifelong dream of his father Roy. The family sold the farm and moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1956, where they operated a plumbing business until 1972.

He attended most of primary and secondary school in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and college in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Tennessee. He earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1972, and his MS in Environmental Engineering from the University of Tennessee in 1975. However, he was a lifelong scholar, learner, and had an endless knowledge of obscure historical facts and stories.

During his career as an engineer, Ken worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority, US Department of Energy, Phillips Petroleum Company, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and the US Department of the Interior. He also owned and served as the principal engineer of his own engineering and consulting company, Production Specialties, Inc. for many years.

Ken lived life to the fullest and had a great sense of adventure. He thoroughly loved being a father, and grandfather and was deeply loved by his children and grandchildren. An eternal optimist who saw the best in everyone, and every situation. A lover of jokes, pranks, and laughter. And the initiator of countless last minute road trips. He greatly enjoyed participating in local poker games, wherever he ended up. In recent years, he often played at the Elks Lodge in Denver, Colorado, while in the area for work. And was quick to start a game of "knock poker" at any family gathering. During his extensive travels, he became interested in stories of lost treasure, and had considered joining some expeditions after retiring as an engineer.

He was preceded in death by his father Roy Stamper, his mother Iva Jean (Sneed) (Stamper) Raymon, step-father Garold 'Red' Raymon, and aunt Virginia (Sneed) Edwards. And by his brothers, Harold Robert Stamper, Jack Arnold Stamper, Richard Lee Stamper, Gary Frank Stamper, and sister Roy Jean (Stamper) Bennitt.

He is survived by his wife Sharron (Williams) Stamper; his daughter Laura and husband Thomas Doughty and their children Lincoln Doughty and Nora Doughty; and his daughter Megan and husband Geoffrey Hale Jr. and their daughter Wilhelmina Hale. As well as his brothers, Gerald Stamper, and James Stamper. And sisters Linda (Stamper) Blevins and Dana (Stamper) Smith. And many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Cremation services under the direction of John Ireland Funeral Home, in Moore. Graveside services will be held at a later time.
