In Loving Memory of Jerry Lee Spencer
Jerry Lee Spencer, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and retired Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025, in Durant, Oklahoma, at the age of 88 (just a few days shy of his 89th birthday). Jerry was born on November 23, 1936, in Wilson, Oklahoma, to Herschel and Elberta Spencer.
Life and Legacy
On September 4, 1954, Jerry was united in marriage with the love of his life, Ginger Battles. Together, they shared a remarkable 71 years of marriage and were blessed with two children, Norman Lee and Joy Lynn. In 1969, the family relocated to Durant, where Jerry embarked on his career as an Oklahoma State Trooper. He served the citizens of Oklahoma with dedication, courage, and integrity until his retirement in 1991. Never one to remain idle, Jerry embraced life on his farm, raising cattle for a time. Following his retirement from OHP, he pursued a new venture by starting Spencer Locksmith, where he served the businesses and citizens of Durant and surrounding areas for 20 years before he finally retired and his son took over the business. He was an avid reader, enjoyed completing projects around the house and walking. Jerry’s life was defined by unwavering faith in God, compassion, generosity, and service. His strong presence touched countless lives, and his legacy of integrity and love will continue to inspire his family and community for generations.
