David Lee Speaks

January 21, 1958 ~ December 4, 2018

Memorial services for David Lee Speaks, 60, of Burneyville will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, December 13 at the Love County Fair Building. Everyone is welcome to bring a fond memory to share.

Born January 21, 1958 at Raytown, Missouri, the son of Cecil and Dorothy Hines Speaks, he died Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Mercy Health Love County, Marietta.

David was in the Army for six years proudly serving his country in the United States, Germany and Alaska. After being discharged, he spent his life as a furniture maker, welder and a hunter. When not working with wood or metal, he was in the woods. He enjoyed working with youth making things. He served as the instructor for 4-H Shooting Sports for 13 years. David was loved by his family, his many friends and coworkers. He always had a smile on his face and was always willing to give a helping hand.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Speaks; brother, Dennis Speaks; and sister, Jeanne Speaks Evetts.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Kathy of the home; son, Gabe Speaks, also of the home; mother, Dorothy; his twin brother, Danny Speaks and brother, Marty and wife Dawn Speaks; and numerous nieces and other family members.

A photo of Mr. Speaks was included in his obituary.
