Myrtle Izetta (Unger) Sparks

October 8, 1916 ~ January 4, 2006

Myrtle Izetta Sparks, the daughter of Claude Leroy and Mary Stella (Rose) Unger, was born October 8, 1916 in Uniontown, Arkansas and departed this life at her home in Natural Dam, Arkansas on January 4, 2006 at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 26 days.

Myrtle married the love of her life, Thomas B. Sparks, on September 5, 1936 in Davison, Arkansas and to this union eight children were born.

For many years Myrtle was a cannery worker for Stilwell Foods and Campbell�s Soup. Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Independence Freewill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Mary Unger, her husband, Thomas B. Sparks, one daughter: June Napier and one sister: Minnie Lovejoy.

She is survived by a loving family that includes three daughters: Faye Neal and husband Roy of Ft. Smith, Stella Crittenden of Pocola, and Charloette Bond of Natural Dam, four sons: Jeff Sparks and wife Fay of Elkins, Roy Sparks and wife Ruby of Uniontown, Jim Sparks and wife Hope of Natural Dam, and Tom Sparks and wife Joni of Evansville, one sister: Margie Goldman and husband Troy of Stilwell, 21 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and many friends also survive her.

Graveside services were held Friday, January 6, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hall Cemetery in Natural Dam, Arkansas with Rev. James Spears officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
