Debra Gail "Debby' (Cook) Sousa

August 8, 1953 ~ October 4, 2017 

Debra Gail "Debby' Sousa, 64, of Copan, died at 10:40 P.M. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at her home in Copan following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Copan United Methodist Church with Rev. Warren Peck and Bill Wright officiating.

Interment will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery at Caney, Kansas directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home. Friends, who wish, may sign the guest register at the Stumpff Funeral Home or at the church as the casket will remain closed at all times.

Casket escorts will include Chandler Barr, Conrad Kraft, Brayden Harris, Dylan Sousa, Sam Lannan, Nick Lannan and Aaron Hunt. Honorary casket escorts will include Orville Harrington, Larry Topping, B.J. Johnson, Lance Brown, Michael Bryan, Steve Johnson and Rick Hawn.

A memorial fund has been established. Those, who wish, may send their contributions to the Copan Schools Food 4 Kids, c/o Agape Mission, 309 S. Bucy, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74003.

Debra Gail Sousa was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on August 8, 1953 to Leo D. and Clara C. (Littleton) Cook. She grew up and received her education in Copan and graduated from Copan High School in 1971.

She was married to Mark G. Sousa on March 20, 1982 at Copan and they have made their home at Copan since that time. She had been active in teaching tap dancing and jazz dancing at Copan for 20 years as well as being a domestic engineer in her home. She was also a volunteer at the Jane Phillips Medical Center and Back- Pack 4 Kids at Copan Schools. She was an active member of the Copan United Methodist Church where she was involved in many church activities.

Debra is survived by her husband, Mark Sousa, her children, Shannon Kraft and husband, Dr. K.C. Kraft of Stillwater, Okla., Travis G. Sousa and wife Lacey of Dewey, Corey Sousa and wife Brittanie, of Okinawa, Japan, and Charity Sousa of Oklahoma City, two sisters, Patty Bryan of Copan and Kelly Lannan and husband, Joe of Copan, her best friend, Sue Thomas of Dewey, seven grandchildren, Chandler Barr and wife, Shadow, Bryce Barr, Conrad Kraft, Brayden Harris, Dylan Sousa, Alaina Stout and Jasmine Stout and her dog, Zoie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Clara Cook, a brother, Danny Cook, her mother-in-law and father-in law, Gertrude and Cliff Sousa and a brother-in-law, Terry Bryan.
