Micheal Wayne Smotherman
December 17, 1947 ~ November 29, 2019 (age 71)

Micheal Wayne Smotherman was born December 17, 1947 in Erick, Oklahoma to Norma Lee (Long) and Beauford Mack Smotherman. He passed away November 29, 2019 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 12 days.

Micheal grew up in Erick where he graduated from high school in 1966. While in high school, he was in a band, Picket Fence, that provided entertainment for southwestern Oklahoma and the Texas panhandle. After graduation he moved to Weatherford and later to Los Angeles, California. He continued his music career with Buckwheat out in California. Micheal went out on his own and moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he spent the better part of 22 years owning his own music studio. In 2012 he moved back to Erick and later met June Gordon and a couple of years later their friendship blossomed in 2014. They made their home outside the Sweetwater community where Micheal enjoyed all forms of the music industry, shooting guns, knife collecting, cooking, eating and spending time with his family and friends. Throughout Micheal's life he received many awards and accolades for his talents in the music industry.

He is preceded in death by his father, Mack Smotherman.

He is survived by his partner, June Gordon; 4 daughters, Amy, Katy, Sadie and Jamie; 2 grandchildren, Brittany and Matthew; 1 great grandson, Bruce; his mother Norma Lee Smotherman; 2 brothers, Terry and Jo Dell Smotherman; 1 sister, Kathy Belle Smotherman; mother of his children, Darlene Smotherman and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2019, 2:00 PM at Erick First Baptist Church officiated by Brother Charlie Floyd. Arrangements are under the direction of Fatheree-Albert Funeral Home and condolences can be made online at www.whineryfs.com
