Violet Elizabeth (Thompson) Pumpkin Smith

September 29, 1920 ~ January 30, 2008

Violet Elizabeth Pumpkin Smith, daughter of John David Thompson and Lucille (Childers) Thompson was born September 29, 1920, in Hoisington, Kansas.

She passed from this life on January 30, 2008, at her home in Proctor, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years, four months and one day.

Violet married John pumpkin on September 30, 1938. They were married 42 years until his death in 1980. To that union four children were born; Eli David, Charles, Mary Jayne and Elizabeth.

She married Leslie Smith on November 15, 1988 and they were married until his death in 1994.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters. Also preceding her in death was her husband; John Pumpkin, her second husband; Leslie Smith and son; Charles Pumpkin.

She is survived by a very loving family that includes one son, Eli David Pumpkin and wife Barbara of Stilwell, OK., two daughters, Mary Owens and husband Jim of Proctor, OK., and Elizabeth Davis and husband Ross of Edmond, OK., and daughter in law, Carolyn Pumpkin of Stark City, MO. Other survivors include eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and a host of friends and loved ones.

Funeral services were held Friday, February 1, 2008 at Hart Memorial Chapel with Bro. Joey Ketcher officiating.
Interment followed at Pumpkin Hollow Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.
