Joy E. (Phenis) Smith
July 9, 1955 ~ August 30, 2018

Joy E. (Phenis) Smith, 63, of Perry, Oklahoma passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2018 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A memorial service celebrating Joy's life will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at 11:00am at the First United Methodist Church of Perry with Reverend Ed Cook officiating. Services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton Marler Funeral Home of Perry. 

Joy was born on July 9, 1955 in Edmond, OK to Dale and Mary Jo (Trumbla) Phenis. During her younger years, Joy grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Once she became an adult she lived in Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and finally in Perry, Oklahoma, where she moved to take care of her mom, Mary Jo. Joy was a very caring woman and was always willing to share with others. She loved animals, garage selling, and spending time with her family. When joy moved to Perry, she made the decision to start attending church and became a member of the First United Methodist Church of Perry. 

She is proceeded in death by her father; Dale Phenis, and one brother; David Phenis. 

Joy is survived by her mother, Mary Jo Phenis; four children, David Hilderman of Oklahoma City, OK, Timothy Hilderman of Saucier, Mississippi, Robert Russell and wife Felicia of Croswell, Michigan, Sarah Russell and husband Josh, of Biloxi, Mississippi; one brother, Robert Phenis and wife Linda of Beatrice Nebraska; one sister, Dalann Covington and husband Don of Beatrice Nebraska; four grandchildren, Damion Thomas, Landon Russell, Caden Russell and Olivia Russell.
