James D. Smith
February 2, 1941 ~ April 15, 2020

The Graveside services celebrating and honoring the life of James D. Smith, 79, of Enid will be held at 02:00 P.M. Tuesday April 21, 2020 with Pastor Monte Lumpkin officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery of Quanah, TX. Local services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted by Smith Funeral Home of Quanah, Texas.

He was born on February 02, 1941 to James O. and Ellen Ruth Smith Williams in Bonham, Texas and passed from this life on April 15, 2020 in Enid, Oklahoma.

He was raised and educated in Quanah, Texas. He graduated from Quanah High School in 1959 where he was a very active and athletic football player. He then attended McMurry College. Following college he went to work for the Texas Highway Department working in highway maintenance and truck driving for over thirty-five years. He enjoyed watching sports of all kinds and was an avid fisherman. Most of all he loved his family.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Smith, son, Jason Smith, brother, Billy Smith and wife Carla, sister, Jeannie Shrum and husband Ernie, and numerous nieces nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother James R. (Corky) Smith.

Memorials in his name may be made to the First Baptist Church of Quanah, TX. with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
