Ingeborg (Baro) Smith

April 28, 1929 ~ January 08, 2016

Inge Smith, 86, of Guthrie, OK, passed away Friday, January 8, 2016. She was born April 28, 1929 in Mannheim, Germany to Ludwig and Elena Baro.

Inge served as a surgical nurse upon graduation from the University of Heidelburg, Germany. She met the love of her life, Gerald Smith in Mannheim, Germany in 1961. They moved to the United States in 1962 and resided in Killeen, Texas. After various military station assignments, they retired in Guthrie in 1973. After moving to Guthrie, she worked at Coles-Resthaven Nursing Home for 10 years. Subsequently, she worked in her family's business and retired in 2002.

Inge was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the American Red Cross, German American Women's Club, the Professional Women's Association, and the American Legion Auxillary.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Inge is survived by her husband, Gerald of Guthrie, son, Tom Smith of Guthrie and her daughters, Patricia Stiener of South Carolina and Nancy Smith of Guthrie. She is also survived by her sister, Ula Stewman of Gainsville, Georgia and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

There will be no visitation.
