Sept. 18, 1923 ~ Feb. 18, 2014

ENID, OK - Memorial service for Colin Smith Sr., 90, of Enid, Okla., will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2014, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.

Colin was born Sept. 18, 1923, in Newark, N.J., to Herbert F. Smith and Winifred (Cann) Smith and died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, in Enid.

Colin joined the Navy in July 1941. He was attending trade school when Pearl Harbor was attacked.

Colin served as an aircraft engine mechanic in Washington, D.C., and Bermuda.

He married Frances Schenck in San Clemente, Calif., on March 16, 1963.

Colin worked for American Airlines and several auto dealerships as a mechanic and drove long haul trucks for 10 years. His favorite hobby was square dancing and his other interests included steam locomotives, race car driving and model cars.

He was a member of the Church of Religious Science.

He locally drove for D.A.V., transporting patients to Oklahoma City. He volunteered at Vance Air Force Base as retiree activities officer. He also delivered mobile meals for over 18 years with Fran.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jack.

He is survived by his wife, Frances of the home; and children, Colin Smith Jr. and Enid Smith, both of Aurora, Colo.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love.
