Avis Marie Smith

Jan. 26, 1933 ~ May 18, 2004

Avis Marie Smith, 71, of Pampa, Texas, died Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at Pampa.

The body was cremated and is unavailable for viewing. Memorial services are pending with Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Smith was born Jan. 26, 1933, in Rush Springs, Okla. She had been a lifelong resident of Pampa. She married Virgel K. Smith on April 1, 1974. He preceded her in death on March 2, 1987.

She was employed at Highland General Hospital, retiring after 17 years of service. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include three sons, Stephen R. Myers of Duncan, Okla., Ernest D. Myers of Plattsburg, Mo., and Lee D. Myers of Pampa; three brothers, J.R. Cross of Plano, and Randall K. Cross and Maurice W. Cross, both of Pampa; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be to Pampa Sheltered Workshop, P.O. Box 2808, Pampa, TX 79066-2808; or to a favorite charity.
