Iona V. (Tate) Skidmore

May 13, 1934 ~ June 9, 2011

Services for Iona V. Skidmore, 77, of North Richland Hills, Texas, (formerly of Marietta) were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 14 in the Biggers Funeral Chapel, North Richland Hills. Interment followed in Azleland Memorial Park.

Born May 13, 1934 in Elmore City, the daughter of Edgar and Odessa Tate, she died Thursday, June 9, 2011.

She was married to Mack H. Skidmore on December 29, 1951 in Fort Worth, Texas and together they shared 56 years of marriage before his death on March 9, 2008. She loved to listen to country music and look at her photograph albums.

Also preceding her in death were a son, William Skidmore and a daughter, Dorothy Clifton.

She is survived by two daughters, Vicki Plemmons of Hurst, Texas, and Ida Higgins of Decatur, Texas; two sons, Mack H. Skidmore, III and James Skidmore, both of Fort Worth; three brothers, Johnny Tate of Euless, Texas, Billy Don Date of Haltom City, Texas and Kenneth Tate of Duncan; five sisters, JoAnn Shaffer and Sue Whittington, both of Thackerville, Shirley Eyster of Justin, Texas, Beverly Carmon of Marietta and Cindy Freeman of Duncan; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
