Susan Kay (Massengill) Simpson

Susan Kay (Massengill) Simpson
August 28, 1969 ~ May 14, 2025

Susan Kay Simpson was born on August 28, 1969, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Raymond “Tuffy” Clyde and Carole Sue (England) Massengill. She passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 55.

Susie was raised in Locust Grove, where she attended school and graduated with the Class of 1987. She later worked for the Oklahoma Soil Conservation Service until her retirement.

A woman of intellect and independence, Susie loved staying connected through her computer and was known for her sharp mind. She was an avid reader, drawn to mystery, science fiction, and romance novels. Her love for music, especially from the 1980s, was a defining part of her personality—she especially enjoyed bands like AC/DC, Disturbed, KISS, Poison, and Buckcherry. She also loved attending concerts and traveling, often embarking on solo cruises that gave her joy and adventure.

Susie enjoyed crafting, particularly cross-stitching, and made many treasured pieces over the years. When her children were young, she created lasting memories with them on sunny days at Twin Bridges. Known for her stubborn streak, bold humor, and big personality, Susie was also caring in her own unique way. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Susie is survived by:
4 children: Michael Simpson of Burlington, Kansas, Raymond Simpson and partner Brandon Boyd of Burlington, Kansas, Scotty Simpson and wife Matisha of Pryor, Oklahoma, Jazmyn Ewing of Wagoner, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren: Brianna Thompson, Thomas Thompson, Avery Simpson, Mason Ewing, and Josiah Simpson; Nieces: Sarah Couch of Springdale, Arkansas, and Hayley Garner of Springdale, Arkansas; 1 aunt: Susan Petrocco and husband David of Brighton, Colorado;

Susie is preceded in death by: her parents; 1 sister: Carrie Rae Herrington; 1 brother: Jim Massengill.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home. Memories, condolences, and tributes may be shared at www.locustgrovefuneralhome.com.
