James William Simonds

June 5, 1944 ~ March 28, 2020 (age 75)

James William Simonds, 75, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, March 28, 2020 at his home.

He was born June 5, 1944 to William and Mary (Jones) Simonds in McAlester, Oklahoma.

James graduated from Wilburton High School. He obtained his cosmetology license from Mr. David’s School of Cosmetology in Flint, Michigan.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.

James married Sondra Jean Theis on April 22, 1969 in Gainesville, Texas. She preceded him in death on March 13, 2011.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sondra Simonds; and baby brother, Johnny Ray Simonds.

Survivors include his son, James Bradley Simonds of Tecumseh; daughter, Amanda Jean Simonds of Tecumseh; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 4 siblings, Barbara, Carolyn, Carol, and Donald; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

Public Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at Cooper Funeral Home. Casket will be closed. Private Family Services to be held under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
