Richard Lee Simms
March 10, 1957 ~ May 20, 2019

Richard Lee Simms, 62 year old Woodward resident, passed away Monday, May 20, 2019 after a long illness at his home in Woodward. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Richard Lee Simms was born on March 10, 1957 in Mooreland, Oklahoma to Edd Simms and Venita (Ruttman) Slay. Rick grew up in Woodward and attended Woodward schools, graduating with the class of 1976. He was united in marriage to Sheri Heath on July 2, 1976 in Woodward, Oklahoma. They were blessed with three children, Keith, Lori, and Brian.

He worked for JR's Rat Hole Drilling, Waste Energy Technology (WET), and J&J Air Drilling. Rick recently moved back to Woodward from Ft. Myers, Florida, where he had resided since 2006.

He enjoyed NBA basketball, football, auto racing, and golfing. Rick loved being with his family.

He is survived by his mother Venita Slay and step-father JR Slay of Woodward; three children, Keith Simms and wife Lori; Lori Simms Dorshaw, and Brian Simms; two sisters Micah Weder and Holly Wiley; five grandchildren; a special friend Kathy; other relatives and friends.

Rick was preceded in death by his father Edd Simms and a sister Tina Simms Jackson.
