Edward Ernest Sikes
November 16, 1922 ~ December 10, 2012

Edward E. Sikes, 90, of Oklahoma City died Dec 10, 2012. He was born to Louie Ward and Beulah Sikes on Nov 16, 1922, in Chickasha, OK, the second of twelve children.

Edward graduated from Chickasha High School in 1941 and entered the Second World War as a civilian assigned to the U.S. Army Air Force, as an AAF Technical Representative in 1942. Working with this group as an electronic technician, he continued to work on bases in Southern England supporting the war effort until his group was sent stateside in late 1944. He then enlisted in the United States Navy where he served, for the duration of the war, as a Radio Technician.

He married Allene Connel and they made their home in the Oklahoma City area, living in Del City for many years until finally settling in South Oklahoma City. Edward was employed by the Federal Government for 42 years before finally retiring in 1987.

Edward was an active member of the Del City Church of Christ, supporting and delivering meals for their Meals-on-Wheels program for over 21 years. He, along with his wife, enjoyed the sport of bowling which he participated in for over 40 years. He was an active member and past president of the Del City Lions, Good Timers Club. His love of Aviation and all things electronic continued throughout his life, where he devoted time to amateur radio and collecting and cataloging a large music collection.

Edward is survived by his wife Allene and their son Kevin and Daughter-in-Law Julie of Cincinnati, OH. He is also survived by seven siblings, Betty Harris; Janet Merrit; Larry Sikes; Don Sikes all of Chickasha, OK; Nancy Davis of Lawton, OK, Leroy Sikes of Del City, OK and Marvin Sikes of Springfield, MO.

In his life, Edward was blessed with many devoted nieces and nephews and good friends the he loved very much. The family is requesting that memorial gifts be made to the Del City Church of Christ Meals-on-Wheels program.
