Paula Eileen (Pool) Sieber

Paula Eileen (Pool) Sieber
July 28, 1960 ~ November 01, 2018

Paula Eileen Sieber, beloved wife, mother, sister-in-law, co-worker and friend, joined the Lord November 1st, 2018. She passed away at home with her family at her side following a lengthy and heroic battle with cancer.

Born July 28, 1960, Paula was the only child of Bill Pat and Shirley Joyce Pool of Fairview, Oklahoma. She was baptized at the Fairview Baptist Church in 1967.

Paula was a lifelong learner and world traveler. She met her husband, Joseph Lee Sieber, in college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) and was married 29 January, 1983.

This began ten years of "Army" life, including 15 countries, five assignments, many deployments, and three children! A memorable moment was being in Berlin when the Berlin Wall fell and hurting an East German Stasi Agent's foot when he tried to kidnap her.

They moved to Oklahoma and civilian life in 1990. Paula put her foot down! No more moving!

Her children, Joseph K., Jamie, and Jennifer, are now Engineers and a Scientist respectively and are all successful in their lives. This is all due to Paula's unbending will to impress on them to do your very best.

Paula was the Salvation Army's Division Commander's Executive Secretary. She loved the chance to mix her religious beliefs, her work, and her need to help others all in one place. Paula truly loved her job with the Salvation Army!

Paula served as the president for the James L. Dennis PTA, the president of the Parent Teacher Organization of the Oklahoma School of Science and Math, the president of the Officer Wives Club in Mannheim Germany, the president and later secretary of the Oklahoma City Auto Patch Association (Ham Radio).

In the last year, Paula was awarded her Bachelors of Science Degree from OSU, The National A1 Operator Award and the Wouff Hong Award from the American Radio Relay League.

Paula's husband Joe retired from the army as a colonel one month before she was diagnosed with cancer. During that month of July 2016, they had a wonderful vacation to Philadelphia.

The next month, Joe, Paula, and their Schipperke dog, "Duke," worked together with family, friends, and the latest medical advancements to do whatever was possible for Paula.

Paula, "aka" AD5VL, was a Volunteer Examiner of Amateur (Ham) Radio. A memorable moment was when she transmitted world-wide for four hours from the W1AW ARRL Headquarters Radio Station in Newington, Connecticut.

She drove herself to have a full and successful life. She never forgot her upbringing and firm belief in God as well as selflessly helping others.

She enjoyed "ham" radio and the people in it for their friendship, support and camaraderie.

In true Native Oklahoman fashion, her last family meal was barbecue.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Henry J. and Irene Lena Koehn, nee' Johnson; Earl Pat and Sophia Pearl Pool nee' Witte.

She is survived by her parents, Bill Pat Pool and Shirley Joyce Pool Shaklee; her husband of 35 years, Joseph Lee Sieber; her son, Joseph Koehn Sieber; her daughters, Jamie Nicole Letzig and Jennifer Marie Sieber, and their husbands Brian Jeremy Letzig and Jackson Lyall Autrey, respectively; and her dog, Duke. She will be missed.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at Bill Merritt Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, send any donations to the Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services (EDS).

The funeral will be held at the Salvation Army Citadel, 2808 SE 44th Street, on Saturday, November 10th at 10 a.m.
