Shelley Kay Shirley, daughter of Hazel Brooks and Gaylord Madison, was born November 1, 1951, in Emporia, Kansas. She passed away from this life on March 9, 2019, at the Share Convalescent Home in Alva, Oklahoma, with family by her side, at the age of 67 years, 4 months and 8 days.

Shelley was renowned for her cooking and baking skills. Everyone always knew they would have plenty of delicious homemade food during the holidays and nobody could forget her famous chicken and noodles. She liked to read, enjoyed knitting and working on crossword puzzles. She especially loved visiting with family and friends and trying her luck on the slot machines and playing bingo. When the weather was nice you could find her camping, fishing and tending her garden.

Shelley met her husband Curtis Lynn Shirley in Osage City, Kansas, and they were united in marriage on October 6, 1983, in Lyndon, Kansas. After uniting they continued to raise their blended family as one. They continued to live in the Osage City area several years before moving to Burlington, Oklahoma, in the summer 1984. Through the following years, they made Cherokee, Oklahoma their home, before spending their remaining years in Alva.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Hazel and Gaylord; a daughter, Christina; and most recently her beloved husband Curtis.

She is survived by her four sons, Pete Ortiz of Helena, John Ortiz of Alva, Curtis Lynn Shirley Jr. of Illinois and Corwyn Madison Shirley of Alva; one daughter, Patricia Enos of Oologuh, two sisters, Connie Hofmeister of Divide, Colorado, and Kimberlee Anderson of Westminster, California; eight grandchildren, Jessica Ortiz, Brooke Willyard, Joseph Ortiz, Mason Enos, Isabella Enos, Serenetie Shirley, Ricky Shirley, and Janice Shirley; one great grandson Heston Willyard; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
