Christopher Merle Shirley

May 19, 1954 ~ November 26, 2012

Christopher Merle Shirley departed this life on Monday, November 26, 2012. Chris was born on May 19, 1953 at the Tinker AFB Hospital and lived in several places around the country; but, lived most of his life in Midwest City, Oklahoma.

He was a great athlete, playing basketball and baseball for Carl Albert High School and basketball at Central State University. Chris also excelled at golf, and enjoyed playing with his dad and several close golf buddies. Chris spent most of his career working in the grocery industry with Humpty Dumpty and Crest Foods, retiring several years ago.

He was also an avid sports fan, following games every day. Chris became quite an accomplished cook, in his later years, cooking for his family nearly every day and experimenting with recipes that he would find on the Internet. His dry sense of humor and quiet determined ways; will be missed by his family.

He is survived at the home by his father and mother, Oliver "Ray" and Joyce Shirley, his sister Becky Hoden of Colorado Springs, sister Cindy McNeil of Oklahoma City, brothers in law, Ed Hoden and Joe McNeil; nephews, Joe Webb, Danny McNeil and David McNeil; nieces, Amy Hoden, Sarah McNeil, Katelyn Hoden, Laura Hoden and Hannah McNeil and cousin Josh Cruzan and his family.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Merle and Jewel Koerner and paternal grandmother Maude Shirley and nephew Robert McNeil.
