Michael Ross Shields
July 1, 1955 ~ October 29, 2023

Michael Ross Shields passed away on Sunday, October 29th in Stroud, OK. Born on July 1, 1955 in Stroud, OK, Mike was 68 years old. Mike was one of 11 children of Ralph and Winifred (Thomas) Shields.

Mike was a 1973 graduate of Stroud High School. He spent most of his life in Stroud having served as mayor, lake ranger, bus driver, firefighter, coach and most of his life working in the oilfield industry. He married Barbara Childress on December 30, 1989 in Las Vegas, NV.

Mike adored all of his grandkids, nieces and nephews and lived for any opportunity to support each one of them and brag about their successes. Holidays were always spent with all of his family together and Mike and his brothers were the center of attention, always entertaining the family. Additionally, he was an avid Denver Broncos and Oklahoma Sooners fan.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Tommy, Jimmy, Phil, Fred, Ricky and Gary; one sister Diane McMillan and son-in-law Lucky Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Shields of 34 years, 4 children Chris Shields & wife Stacey of Bristow, OK; Amber Presley & husband Josh of Stroud, OK; Jason & Kari Childress of Bristow, OK and Amy Warden and husband Tim of Oklahoma City, OK; 12 grandchildren Chapman Shields & wife Macy, Cooper Shields, Cyler Shields, Kale Miller & wife Kasey, Logan Miller, Carly Miller, Kolton Childress, Kaitlynn Childress, Conner Cooper, Caydence Cooper, Raelynn Warden and Lynleigh Warden; 3 siblings Leslie Shields of Stroud, OK; Sue May of Bristow, OK; and Annita Vandever & her husband Mike of Stroud, OK; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and a host of friends.

A memorial service will be held 11am, Friday, November 3, 2023 at Stroud First Baptist Church. A guest book is available to share your memories on-line. Please visit www.ParksBrothers.net. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud, Oklahoma.
