Phillip Estes Sheffer

Phillip Estes Sheffer
Feb. 7, 1948 ~ Jan. 18, 2014

Memorial service for Phillip Estes Sheffer, 65, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Phillip was born Feb. 7, 1948, in Enid, Okla., the son of John W. and Gladys Harmon Sheffer. Phillip passed away on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at home.

He attended first through fifth grades at Billings Grade School and then transferred to Garber when the family moved west of Garber. Phillip graduated from Garber High School in 1966. He attended OSU for one year before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He finished his college education by correspondence.

Phillip loved his time in the Navy, but after retirement, he returned home to help his dad with the farming operation. He was a good farmer and continued as long as his health permitted.

While in the Navy, he married Geri Grey of Richmond, Cailf. They had three children, Alisha DaNelle, Travis William and Shelli Marie, who survive him as well as six grandchildren.

In 1985, he married Helen Holliday and is survived by her and stepchildren, Marilyn and Larry Holliday; grandchildren, Robert, Tara Mindy and Michelle; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his mother who raised him, LaVelle Sheffer, and his sister, Janene and her husband Lynn Yost of Garber, Okla.

Preceding him in death are his father, John W. Sheffer in 2010; mother, Gladys Skaggs Sheffer; brother, Travis; and a sister, Teresa.

Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
