John Everett Shearhart

December 13, 1953 ~ September 28, 2017

John Everett Shearhart, 63, of Bartlesville, died Thursday in Bartlesville.

John was born December 13, 1953, in Wichita, Kansas, and grew up in Coffeyville. When he was 16, John moved to Bartlesville to live with his grandmother and attended College High, graduating in 1972. John married Janet Debra Branch on July 27, 1973, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Bartlesville. They had two children John E. Shearhart Jr. and Marie Elizabeth Shearhart. John worked in construction all of his life and for the last several years enjoyed his route delivering the Examiner-Enterprise.

One of John and Janet's favorite group activities was taking part in the Society of Creative Anachronism which researches and recreates the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe (Middle Ages). He loved going down to his land in McAlester, Okla., where he was building his cabin. John loved his family and his kids dearly, and grandson Peter was extra special in his eyes.

John is survived by one son John E. Shearhart Jr. of Bartlesville; daughter Marie Shearhart of Bartlesville; and two grandchildren Peter Neimah Duncan Shearhart of Bartlesville and Anisa Dawn Edmondson of Bartlesville, one great grandchild, his father Jay Shearhart of Coffeyville, and one brother Chuck Shearhart and Jamie of Joplin, MO.

A celebration of life will occur on October 21 from 2:00-5:00 with a gathering of friends and family at the Sooner Park Pavilion.

Arrangements are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home.
