Allen, TX- Gary Shastid, 61, passed from this life on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 in Allen. Gary was born Thursday, November 2, 1961 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Billy W. Shastid and Juanita (Willis) Shastid.

Gary was a graduate of Durant High School in 1980. Soon after graduation, he settled in Plano, Texas and began his career at Metropolitan Life in Dallas. Gary married Tonja Chalk on May 18, 1991. Gary then worked as a machine shop manager with Dexter Magnetics. Due to his health concerns, Gary was disable and forced to retire too soon.

Gary enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, and riding his bike. He was very kind hearted and a family man.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billy W. Shastid in 2003.

Gary leaves behind his loving wife, Tonja of the home; son, Cody Shastid of Allen; his mother, Juanita Guthrie of Robert County, TX; a sister, Brenda Honeywell of Atoka, OK; and brother, Jerry Wilmoth and his wife, Marion of Robert County, TX; and numerous other family members he adored.

Services to celebrate Gary’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 4, at Brown’s Funeral Home chapel with Mr. Don Fentem officiating.

The family will greet friends an hour before the services at the funeral home.
