Tommy George Sharp

January 20, 1941 ~ July 22, 2020

Tommy George Sharp departed from this life and went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, July 22, 2020.

Tommy was born on January 20, 1941 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Orville and Ershel (Davis) Sharp. He spent most of his childhood and teen years in Muskogee, where he attended school. His family moved to Okay, Oklahoma at the beginning of his junior year in high school, and he graduated in 1959 from Okay High School.

Being adventurous all of his life, Tommy was able to see the world as he traveled many places serving our country after enlisting in the United States Navy in 1960 stationed in San Diego, CA..

Looking back over his Performance Evaluation Report,Tommy's performance was noted as "that he accepted each assignment as a challenge, approaching each with the attitude that no task is too difficult or complicated".

In 1967, Assigned to the USS Ramsey (DEG-2), Commissioned at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, assigned to Destroyer Squadron 23 at Long Beach, Cal. In addition to the USS Ramsey (DEG-2), Tommy served on the USS E Montgomery (FF1082), the USS Sperry (AS-12) and at Naval Air Station, Millington, TN. He was honorably discharged in 1981 after 21 years of service.

Tommy always loved being around the water and became an excellent swimmer at a very young age. He enjoyed taking his family to parks, to the beach, on picnics, and just about anywhere they could have fun together. He really was a fun-loving guy all of his life but he was also a very hard worker!

Tommy loved sports, particularly football, and was a very big OU fan. He took great pride in his roses that he planted and took care of. He enjoyed cooking and grilling. He also really enjoyed riding his four-wheeler with his wife, Barbara, and also looked forward to the trips with his four-wheeler buddies.

Tommy became a Christian at a very young age and had many wonderful memories of going to church youth camp every summer, and attending church at Bethel Temple in Muskogee as he grew up. He was most recently a member of Boulevard Christian Church.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents Orville and Ershel (Davis) Sharp.

Tommy is survived by his wife Barbara, of the home; sister Janice Smith and husband Ronald; Gary Sharp and wife Amy of Roswell, Georgia; daughters: Lori Sharp of Kansas City, MO and Donna Fraser and husband Matt of Weatherby Lake , MO and Tammy Sharp-Monroe of Muskogee, and grandchildren: Christopher Sharp and wife Amber of Woodstock, Al, Giana Martinez and Giovanni Martinez of Catossa, OK, Tony Wagoner of Raytown, MO Jaxon Fraser of Weatherby Lake, MO; great-grandchildren: Jordan, Kaedyn and Kinsley Sharp all of Woodstock, Alabama.
