Charles Wayne Shankles

Charles Wayne Shankles
January 28, 1949 ~ February 2, 2026

On January 28, 1949, Charles was born in Burneyville, OK to W.O. “Buster” and Geneva (Kitchens) Shankles. Charles was married to the love of his life, Emma “Sue” (Heiderich) Shankles, for over 52 years. He passed away on February 2, 2026.

As a lifelong resident of Love County, he worked for over 45 years in the trucking industry. Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, working in the yard, feeding his birds, as well as spending time with loved ones.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sylvia Stewart, and brother, W.O. “Sonny” Shankles.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Sue Shankles, of the home; children, Lance Shankles and wife Brooke of Bellevue, WA and Amie Luft of Denton, TX; grandchildren, Dace Fletcher, Aidan Fletcher, and Jackson Shankles; siblings Don Shankles and wife Cissy of Granbury, TX, Troy Shankles and wife Anita of Burneyville, Linda Stewart of Burneyville, and Vickie Shankles.

There will not be a formal service, however, a celebration of life will be held on February 15, 2026, from 2-4pm at Shady Dale Baptist Church.
