Alta C. Self

Nov. 14, 1870 ~ Sept. 4, 1952

Funeral service for Mrs. Alta C. Self, 81 years of age, widely known pioneer of this community, who died Thursday, Sept. 4, at her home near Westville, was conducted Saturday from the Roberts Funeral Chapel with Rev. Stillman Whiteley, pastor of the Baptist church of Summers, Arkansas, officiating. Mrs. Paul Carrington and Mrs. Bessie Cunningham, with Mrs. E. E. Stockwell at the piano, sang three request hymns.

The body was taken to the Lamb cemetery near Waldron, Arkansas, for burial, and her grandsons were pall bearers. Another funeral was conducted from this place.

Mrs. Self was born Nov. 14, 1870. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Bessie Hutcheson of Waldron, Arkansas, and Mrs. Noah Edwards, Lowell, Arkansas, two sons, Oliver Self and Lark Self, both of Westville; 26 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
