Dr. B. G. Schumacher
February 15, 1929 ~ March 15, 2012 (age 83)

Dr. B. G. Schumacher, Professor Emeritus of Management at the University of Oklahoma passed away  Thursday, March 15, 2012 in Norman OK after a brave battle with Parkinson's  Disease.  B. G. was born Feb. 15, 1929 in Sherman, TX to George W. and Phoebe Tolbert Schumacher.  He earned his bachelor's degree from Austin College, his master's from Texas Christian University, and his Ph. D. from the University of Oklahoma.  During the Korean war, he served honorably in the US Air Force as a medical service officer.  He later worked for the US Dept. of Housing and Urban Development.  He taught management and systems at the University of Missouri at St. Louis and the University of Oklahoma, Price College of Business.  He authored several books, developed several patents, and consulted for numerous businesses and organizations.

B.G. loved to hunt and fish and was an excellent shot.  He was an avid reader, a military and  Civil War historian and a weight lifting enthusiast.  

B. G. was preceded in death by his father George, mother Phoebe, and sister Juanita Pickavance. 

He is survived by his wife Ann Hamilton, daughter Hope Kiel and her husband Doug of Plano TX, daughter Faith Weaver and her husband Scott of Dallas TX, granddaughter Ellen Weaver of Austin TX, granddaughter Sheila Weaver of Dallas, grandson Philip Weaver of Austin TX, nephew W. W. Pickavance of Galveston TX, nephew Tom Pickavance of Ft. Worth TX, cousin Henry Scharff of Sherman TX, cousin Margie Ruth Wilson of Sherman TX.  He is also survived by Ann's brothers and sister and spouses  Ron and Judy Hamilton of Newcastle OK, Terry and Elizabeth Hamilton of Gallup NM, Bob and Jamey Hamilton of Norman OK, Charles and Elizabeth Hamilton of Yukon OK, David and Mary Lou Casper of Oklahoma City OK, and nieces and nephews Denise Mohammadi, Chris Hamilton, Dana Brewster, Mary Bloedow, Blake Hamilton, Matt Casper,  Drew Casper, Ginger Maxted, Edward Munoz and Michael Munoz.  B. G. is also survived by dear lifelong friends Raymond Stevens of Sherman TX and Earl Head of Estancia NM. 

The family thanks special caregivers Stacy Sharp and Lydia Butler, the loving staff of Arbor House, the kind team of Lifecare Hospice, and his physician Dr. Madhavi Thomas of the North Texas Movement Disorders Clinic in Bedford TX,

Contributions may be made to St. Michaels Episcopal Church in Norman OK or the charity of your choice.

Services will be held Monday, March 19 at 10 am at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 1601 West Imhoff Road in Norman OK 73072.  

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday in the Hall Cemetery in Howe TX. 

Arrangements for B. G.  and his family were placed in the care of the Vice Family at Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
