Memorial services for Karen Frances (Scott) Schoonmaker, 75, of Eagle City, OK will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Eagle City Christian Church with Pastor Monte Michaelson officiating.
Karen was born on August 28, 1946 at Fairview, OK to Melvin and Mildred Scott. Karen departed this life on August 6, 2022, at her home in Eagle City. Karen started school at Eagle City for the first grade then transferred and graduated from Canton High School. She married Steve Schoonmaker on December 27, 1964 at the Methodist Church in Canton. Karen was a longtime member of the Eagle City Christian Church. To this union three children were born, Traci, Brian and Staci.
Karen loved to crochet, cook and was a talented seamstress, she sewed all her children's clothes in their younger years and Barbie doll clothes for her daughters and nieces. She loved all children. She and Steve became foster parents and loved and helped many children over several years.
In 1974 Steve and Karen moved from Fairview to Canton and purchased the garage where they would work together for the next 51 years until she retired for health reasons.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Jerry Scott; one grandson Logan Black and one great-grandson Gabriel Clark.
Survivors include her husband Steve Schoonmaker, daughter Traci Wilson and husband Eddie, son Brian Schoonmaker and wife Robin and daughter Staci Black and husband Robby; six grandchildren, Austin Wilson and wife Erin, Devin Wilson, Dillan Schoonmaker and wife Kelsey, Kendal Schoonmaker and wife Kristin, Lauren Hallmark and Lynzey Black; four great grandchildren Kamryn Wilson, Ava Schoonmaker, Tayber Schoonmaker, Nash Schoonmaker and one great grandchild due in October.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Eagle City Christian
Church with Pierce Funeral Home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 36, Canton,
