Hazel J. (McCormick) Schmitt

Hazel J. Schmitt, of Winfield, Kan., died Saturday, July 25, 2015, at her home in Winfield, at the age of 84.

Hazel was born the daughter of C.D. and Lara (Grifith) McCormick on Sunday, Jan. 4, 1931, in Nash, Okla. She was the youngest of 13 children born in the family.

Hazel graduated from Hawley High School in Oklahoma. She was a retired solder technician for NCR.

Survivors include her daughters, Melisa Carmicheal and husband Robert of South Haven, Kan., and Dana Keithley of Winfield, Kan.; grandchildren, Michelle Decaire, Mandy Curry and Michael Trammel; great-grandsons, Crew DeVine, Kalon DeVine and Cooper Curry; and her niece, Nora Jean Magness of Wichita, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, all 12 of her siblings, an infant son, Stevie Ralston and a daughter, LaRell Toburen.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m., Friday, July 31, 2015, at Geuda Springs Cemetery, Geuda Springs, Kan. There will be no visitation.
