Verla Jean (DeLano) Schiff
March 13, 1935 ~ January 10, 2020

Verla Jean DeLano Schiff was born March 13, 1935, in Cherokee, Oklahoma, and passed from this earth January 10, 2020, at Kansas Medical Center, Andover, Kansas, at age 84 years, 10 months.

Verla graduated from Medicine Lodge High School. She married Daryl Martin Schiff on September 18, 1965. They were married nearly 55 years.

She raised four children: Stephen Alan Clark (Jean), Gina Lynn Leiker (Steve), Martina Mariea McBride (John) and Daryl Martin Schiff, II (Janelle). She enjoyed her 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In her 20s she traveled and lived in many places in the United States and overseas. She loved telling about her travels. She owned a kennel and raised dogs, worked in Schiff's Cabinet Shop alongside her husband, and ran sound for the family band, The Schiffters.

Jeanne had a big heart and enjoyed making people laugh with her stories. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Jeanne is also survived by her sisters, Beverly Selby and Belinda Youssefieh, and brother Louis "Pete" Burkes. She is preceded in death by her father Theodore DeLano, mother Juanita Burkes, and brother Dick DeLano.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, Kansas, with Jimmy Fleming officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, Kansas.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Indian School in care of the funeral home.
