Donna Jean (Young) Sandford
October 3, 1947 ~ March 22, 2018

Donna Jean Sandford of Ponca City passed away on March 22, 2018 surrounded by family and friends. She was 70 years old. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 29th at Ponca City Assembly located at 2313 East Prospect Avenue with Pastor Dwayne Bardwell and Pastor Richard Smith officiating. She will be buried with her husband in Riverside National Cemetery, in Riverside, California. Services are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory.

From her birth on October 3, 1947 to her death she loved and ministered to the people around her. She had a unique way of making everyone she met feel like family. 

Donna married Robert Alan Sandford on October 7, 1967 in Riverside, California, They made a life together for 29 years in and around the Riverside area. Two sons, Jon and Christopher were born to this union completing their family.

In 1986, Donna became a licensed hair dresser fulfilling a lifelong dream. After the death of her husband in 1996, she moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma. Donna worked in many salons in California and Oklahoma. She also loved her time working with Special Needs students at the high school. Most recently, she had been working as a night manager at Broadway Plaza Apartments. 

Donna lived a full life visiting with family and friends and going on several mission trips with the Ponca City Foursquare Church, and helping friends in any way she could. She was an avid Elvis fan and she shared that passion with anyone who would listen. She also loved making trips to Colorado to spoil her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Patricia Young; her husband, Robert Sandford; and her brother, Dennis Young.

She is survived by her son, Jon Sandford and his wife Becky; her son, Christopher Sandford and his wife Dana; her sister, Debbie Meyer and her husband, Larry; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
