Carl Jonah Sands
January 24, 1948 ~ February 25, 2020

Carl Jonah Sands was born January 24, 1948 in Castle Oklahoma to Alice Juanita Bunton and Jonah Sands and passed peacefully at his home in Depew Oklahoma on February 25 ,2020 with his Companion of 16 years Tanya Ashley, Bonica, and Family by his side.

He was a proud member of the Muscogee Creek Nation.

Carl had 6 children that he loved with his whole heart. Kelly and Bru Sands-Montez of Stanford, Az., Shawn and Hartley Sands-Cole of Emmett, Id., Alice Sands, Carl J. Sands Jr and Gary Lee Sands all of Depew OK. and Cody Sands U.S.M.C Okinawa Japan.

Carl loved to Hunt and Fish with his family Jorden Hendrickson, Michael & Jay Nestlerode, Steve Stilwell and had many stories to tell around the campfires.

Carl had many family members that he would protect with his life and that he loved sisters Mary & Gary Stilwell of Bristow Oklahoma, Brenda & Stephen Watkins of Bristow, OK, Peggy Sands of Okemah, OK, Carl's many brothers Rodney Peterson of Bristow, OK., Brian Sands of Wetumka, Ok, Bruce Sands of KS, Mike Sands, Art Sands of Okemah, OK, Jonny Sands of Tulsa, Ok and Terry Sands of Okemah, OK.

Carl was preceded in death by his Sister Rowena Harjo-Sands, Caroll Wayne Peterson, brother Russell Peterson, Mother and Fathers Alice Bunton, Jonah Sands and Lowell Warren Peterson.

Carl had a best Friend Bennie Lopez that he met in 3rd grade. He believed him to be his brother and was there with him to the End as he was there with him in the beginning and through his whole life. The stories they told will go down in history!!!
