Howard Sanders Sr.

Jan. 10, 1923 ~ July 13, 2002

HEREFORD - Howard Sanders Sr., 79, died Saturday, July 13, 2002.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Larned City Cemetery of Larned, Kan. Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home.

Mr. Sanders was born Jan. 10, 1923, in Stella, Mo., the son of Arch and Mary Sanders. He married Lorena Waggoner in Larned. She preceded him in death in 1990. He then married Irene Brannick. He retired after 50 years as a truck driver, having worked for the Shur-Gro Co. of Hereford.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorena; a son, Bill Knight; and a sister, Ana May Compton.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Ed Sanders of Hereford, Harold Knight of Joplin, Mo., Harlyn Knight of Wichita, Kan., and Norman Knight of Dodge City, Kan.; five brothers, Kenny Sanders of Nessa, Ore., Lester Sanders of Stella, Mo., Wesley Sanders of Silsbee, James Sanders of Tulsa, Okla., and Jerry Sanders of Granby, Mo.; three sisters, Christine Dunbar and Avanell Tipton, both of Neosho, Mo., and Juanita Eubanks of Howard, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

The family suggests memorials be to Kings Manor Retirement Home, 400 Ranger, Hereford, TX 79045; or to the Crown of Texas Hospice, 1000 S. Jefferson, Amarillo, TX 79109.
