Marilyn Jeanette Samargis-Covert

Marilyn Jeanette Samargis-Covert
February 2, 1959 ~ July 25, 2019

Our family lost one of our brightest stars recently. Our daughter Marilyn Jeanette Samargis/Covert was born February 2nd 1959 in San Diego, California, made her transition July 25th, 2019 at her home in Stilwell, Oklahoma. She was a daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, to this large family and left us much too soon. She was 60 years old.

She was oldest daughter of Frank Samargis, Sr. and Lela Trammel/Samargis. She was also the oldest of six bothers and sisters. Her Mom always said when she was born she knew she had been dealth “The Wild Card”. Somehow, we had to keep her dancing. She was the wanderer. Always wanted to know what was

on the other side of the mountain. When she was five years old she packed a small suitcase and said she was going on the road. Well on the road she did go!

She lived and traveled most of the western United States, which included California, Idaho, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, and Texas, before settling down in Stilwell with her children. She always said she missed boating and swimming in the Colorado River in Arizona when she was a teenager growing up. She also enjoyed floating the Illinois River with her family and friends.

Maybe it’s not about the happy ending. Maybe it’s about the story. Life is full of ups and downs. Without the downs, the ups don’t mean much.

Life is like glass. Looks so lovely yet is so easily shattered. The purpose of life is a life of purpose. You reached for the secret too soon dear Marilyn.

Shine on you crazy diamond, shine on.

She was preceded in death by first husband, Michael Clark of Needles, California, and second husband Spencer Clauss of San Antonio, Texas; One brother, Frank Samargis; and sister Dana Bryant; Grandparents Donald and Dellave Feasel of Stilwell.

She is survived by a large loving family which includes parents Frank and Lela Samargis; One sister, Donna Ready; two brothers, Kevin and Martin Samargis and sister-in-law Marlene, all of Stilwell. Daughter, Laura Jane and husband Arturo Cisneros, San Antonia, TX. Daughter, Shauna Samargis, of Bend, Oregon. Son, Joshua Clauss, Westville, Ok. Daughters, Jennifer and Hannah Clauss, both of Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Also, she is grandmother to 13 grandchildren, aunts and uncles, cousins and nephews and nieces, too numerous to list but all dearly love.

She is also survived by Great Aunt Dolly Kester of Stilwell/Las Vegas, Nevada, The Braly Family, Aunt Evelyn and Uncle Ron, Ronnie and Jeff of Stilwell.

Our thanks goes out to Dr. Alicia Childs of NEO Health and Nurse Jolene, of Cherokee Home Health for the love and care of our girl. May the heavens shine brightly over their lives.
